Love and Hate Story of MQM and Establishment

The term ‘Establishment’ is used for military and law enforcement agencies in Pakistan. Intellectuals, analysts, politicians and media men uses this term for Pakistan military or army but another word ‘boys’ is also in common use for army in Pakistani media.
The military establishment of Pakistan has always been a powerful and very disciplined institute throughout. The mighty establishment only experienced a powerful resistance during MRD movement led by PPP and pro-nationalists groups against General Zia-ul-haq.

Some analysts and ex-intelligence servicemen say the mighty godfather general Zia-ul-haq was behind the making of his godchild Altaf Hussain to counter MRD and Jeay Sindh Tahreek in Sindh.

But things never remain same for all the time so after the demise of general Zia-ul-haq, Altaf Hussain got some freedom and established his own kind of establishment consisting intelligence and militant wings, sectors, units and the recruiters like zimedaran who were made to operate under a command and control of different committees responsible to one single entity Altaf Bhai.

This herculean godchild was always in giggles holding snakes in his hands for his opponents and enemies. He crushed any of the head who arose to challenge his monstrous world but gradually he become oblivion and went on forgetting that he was dipped into the river of establishment by general Zia-ul-haq holding him from heel, fateful one, the Achilles’ heel.

It is said after getting their job done this brainchild of general zia-ul-haq was abandoned by establishment and he was picked up and adopted by international godfathers offering him lollypop of ‘promised land’, “Jinnah Pur’ or Mohajir province”

International godfathers have their own agendas and plans for south Asia, especially and specifically for India and Pakistan.

This international establishment needs kings and Queens, knights and bishops, rooks and pawns for their playing field and master plan.

People say the author of ‘Philosophy of love’ once saw a dream of becoming a father of nation of muslim migrants from India to Pakistan. So for this aim he chose to become a pawn for his international masters for a loath of land promising his name to be among fathers of nation.

So far this author has been succeeded in getting a name plaque:

‘Altaf Hussain University’ in Hyderabad Sindh.

NOW this has become a story of past perfect tense that who supports who and what is what in case of MQM.

The half and full blown operation against the militant wing of MQM was no more a wishful thinking of establishment but a need of time to call the MQM to account.

In the recent years MQM was in worst of its crisis and every other day was an uphill task for its party workers to defend their supremo’s words and verdicts hurled through media.

This was first time in the history of MQM that party’s loyals felt compelled to say:

“We want destination not the leader”

Seems after the bulk of apologies by Mr. Hussain it was difficult for  establishment to decide which apology of Altaf Hussain should let be gone.

Finally the company ditched him after the many years of service.

“Refugees’ return”

An opinion by @omarwaraich in Sunday Dawn newspaper on plight of Afghan refugees their woes and atrocities done by Pakistani police on refugees is a truest to the facts story of current situation.
I have been living in the vicinity near to afghan refugees and was part of research study on Afghans living in outskirts camps in Karachi the topmost and loudest cry they made along with many adversities of life was a harassment of Police, their cruel attitude and inhuman conduct towards afghans.

As an ex-employee of a hospital i know afghans were not treated on equal terms in Pakistani hospitals they were not entitled to patients welfare services because they do not have Pakistani ID. I know many cases personally, they were left to die miserable deaths.

Being here for almost 40 years, their one generation know nothing about Afghanistan, born here, raised here, grown here somehow educated here, they feel more Pakistani than afghani themselves.

Pakistan being a signatory to international laws must abide the laws and protect the honor, respect and property of afghans on its land as it is obliged to comply with its promise.

Omar Waraich’s column is must read on Afghan refugees plight.

”Trauma of Independence”

May be for later generations who were born after 1947, celebrating “Independence Day” on both sides of border is a day of joy and jubilation and that must be….!!

But what about those who wrote, “Train to Pakistan” “Toba Tek Singh” “The weary generations” not to mention many who suffered the wounds of partition and left describable and indescribable scars of those traumatic vulnerabilities in history, a bloody history. ..!?

The 14th and 15th August are still suffocating days for al those innocent and vulnerable souls who went through lot of suffering and experienced the atrocities of partition and became traumatised til their last breath.

What this Independence gave people of that time??

Bloody riots, massacres, homelessness, murders, rapes and shattered families, mass migration and refugee camps and haunting  nightmares.?

Millions of people who became strangers in their native land within a one night ???

Those poor souls suffered the long-lasting traumas of Independence which snatched their Independence 69 years ago….

Happy Independence Day…!!

Not A Day To Celebrate. …??

Today when we look down at the map of Pakistan in past 69 years what we find just the spots of blood and bullets marks.

There is less to celebrate and rejoice but to think are we the same nation once we were at the time of independence !!

Today map of Pakistan is either red or black not the green or white, a deep cry and sadness linger on its face and features.

A wounded and vulnerable surface of map of this land sings the songs of sorrow and sadness, assassinations and excessive killings, jails, imprisonment, hangings and humiliations.

Bullet riddled bodies of innocent people and deprivation of rights to indigenous people. …

Following the bombs, blasts and suicide explosions, non stop sectarian violence founded, funded and nurtured by Zia regime.

Zia’s legacy of Islamisation sew such a breed of Frankensteins that today’s state of Pakistan seems tired to crop this Jihadist militancy and find no place to dump that old stinky garbage of Islamist militants.

It would take years ahead when we would see from heaven people crawling around, creeping and walking using such rare words to one another :

What a peace on this land….!!

What a harmonious society..!!

What a tranquility of environment..! ?? ?

“MQM and Mohajir Politics”

We all see the existence of MQM as a political party is losing its ground among masses in Urban Sindh.

A party which made its Fort on the foundation of ethnic lines, it grew large and large and made the Mohajir (urdu speaking) populated areas its main stronghold and maintained their hold through force and coercion showing the iron fist of its supremo  chalking  the street walls with hate mongering slogans :

ایم کیو ایم میں آنے کا راستہ ہے جانے کا نہیں

جو قائد کا غدار ہے وہ موت کا حقدار ہے

کراچی میں رہنا ہے تو الطاف الطاف کہنا ہے

Not to mention other hate mongering slogans which annoyed other communities and led to confrontational politics in province.

MQM claims that it is a party of masses representing middle class and common people living in Urban Sindh and fight for their rights.

The opponents of MQM blame for and call it a terrorist organisation which keeps its street power and electoral politics alive through tactics of coercion, collecting Zakat, contributions, donations and animal hides for running party affairs and bearing expenditures of London house where it’s supremo Altaf Hussain aka Bhai lives in self exile.

MQM always have had a good presence in provincial and federal assemblies and had a greater time in power corridors.

MQM flourished at exceptional level during the period of General Parvez Musharaf who showered upon them many windfalls for his own political motives.

MQM chose Mustafa Kamal as the mayor of Karachi during the tenure of  General Parvez Musharaf no doubt Karachi saw it’s progress, development in forms of bridges, flyovers, roads and family parks. This somehow created the soft corner and changed the impression of MQM from a terrorist organisation to mature political party among urban dwellers.

Based on its ethenic ideology MQM picked a fight with every community living in karachi and urban parts of Sindh. They spared none, Sindhi Mohajir riots, Pakhtun Mohajir riots, conflicts with Balochs, they even never spared Mohajir themselves too whoever came their  way with dissent ideas made laid to rest peacefully. This kind of politics caused disintegration of mother party and a splinter group came out from their ribs MQM  (Haqiqi).

Altaf Hussain created a personality cult by the time and was called Pir Altaf but he was more popular as Altaf Bhai than Pir Saheb.

It is said MQM (Haqiqi ) was created by the establishment when Altaf Hussain refused to bow down with every wish he was asked to fulfill. So establishment thought to teach a lesson to a greater evil by the help of a lesser evil.

After realizing he was used by establishment to counter Sindhi nationalists version of politics, later in his addresses Altaf Hussain admitted that Sindhi Mohajir riots were brainchild of establishment who used MQM cleverly against Sindhi nationalists and MQM’s dream to cleanse Sindhi from major cities of Sindh  was just a historical mistake and he went on to call ‘Sindhi Mohajir Bhai Bhai’ ‘Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Ki Dharti Aman Ki Dharti’ and Sindh is our motherland.

When MQM entered the power politics they never been at ease with any political party that’s why they separate their ways almost with every government and play their bargaining game cleverly. But this card playing politics have reduced MQM from a party to a pressure group.

MQM wants a Mohajir province and  sees Altaf Hussain as their father and Altaf Hussain dreams to be a new Mujeeb Rehman of Mohajir community as a father of nation.

Interestingly the demand for Mohajir province has never been taken seriously  by political leadership or military establishment so far. As there seems an ample evidence against MQM  getting funding from India and other powers who have their vicious intentions for this region.

Recently Ranjers led operation has cleaned a great number of criminal elements in karachi. Operation was a demand from all sections of society and law enforcement agencies claimed in many JITs that the criminalization has backing of all political parties and MQM is a major stakeholder to this.

In all such scenario one can assess the political existence of MQM whose supreme leader is now in ailing condition he is away from media coverage his loyal workers and party members have gone in hideouts, few of them have joined hands with Mustafa Kamal, Rabita committee is no more active and functional one can feel the anxiety of its upper leadership who finds two faced giant to face. So let’s see whether MQM is going to sing a recessional song or it will survive the transient crisis and would strike back.
